The story
Coastal sunsets, quiet moments and celebrations
Some places are best seen in a particular light. On this stretch of coast, it is the last few hours of the day, when the sun drops towards the ocean and the whole shoreline turns from silver to honey to rose.
This escape is timed backwards from sunset. You begin in the afternoon at São Martinho do Porto, walking the edge of a bay so sheltered it looks like a lake. In Nazaré the light turns golden over the boats and the long beach. And as the sun nears the horizon, you stand on the cliffs of Sítio, a hundred metres or so above the sand, as it slips into the Atlantic.
There is no group to keep up with and no one checking the time. Your driver handles the roads and the parking, and keeps a discreet distance when the moment calls for it. If you would like to end with dinner by the sea, we can suggest and book a table on request, and since nobody has to drive home, you can both enjoy the wine.
